Our Story

We Document
African
Sound

Afroqueens is an initiative designed to empower emerging female Afrobeats music artists by providing them with a platform to showcase their talents, develop their skills, and thrive in a male-dominated industry.

The Mission

Afroqueens is not just a writing camp for talented female artists; it is a reality series that authentically captures their experiences—the highs, the lows, the lessons learned, and the moments that define them. We aim to highlight the brilliance of these rising stars and provide viewers with an inside look at the creative processes and struggles of female artists trying to establish themselves in the vibrant Afrobeats scene.

What We Stand For

Our Values

Authenticity First

We never chase virality. Every piece of content we publish is grounded in genuine love for the music and deep respect for the artists behind it.

Community Over Commerce

We are reader-supported and community-driven. We don't answer to advertisers — we answer to the artists and audiences who make this culture what it is.

Women at the Centre

This is not a platform that occasionally features women. It is a platform built around them. The stories we tell, the artists we profile, the history we document — it centres women.

Pan-African Perspective

From Lagos to Accra to Johannesburg to Nairobi — we don't reduce African music to a single city or sound. We follow the continent, in all its richness.

Editorial Independence

Our coverage is never bought. Artists are profiled on the strength of their work. Our editorial team makes every decision independently, without commercial influence.

Archive for the Future

We are building a living archive. The interviews and profiles we publish today will be reference points for the historians and journalists of tomorrow.
